The connection between
the Slovak Republic and SIIX
Our relationship with the Slovak Republic dates back to the period immediately after the Slovak Republic became independent from Czechoslovakia. 1994, we invested in a PC power supply manufacturer in the Slovak Republic and started business with them in Germany. In 2001, we entered the EMS business in earnest through a joint venture with a Slovak EMS company. We later made this factory our wholly owned subsidiary, which is now our Slovak factory (located in Nitra).
Although there are still only about 50 Japanese companies operating in Slovakia, the country’s labor productivity is the highest in Central and Eastern Europe, its ability to adapt to multiple languages, one of the highest economic growth rates in the Eurozone, and its central location in Europe make it a promising location for future economic growth.
In addition, due to the friendly relationship with Slovakia, we have given a presentation at the Slovak Investment Seminar held in Osaka as a successful case study of our investment in Slovakia, and we are cooperating with the promotion of further investment in Slovakia.
With this background in mind, H.E. Mr. Michalkotman, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Slovak Republic to Japan, presented his credentials to our CEO, Shiro Murai, on October 10, 2014, and the Honorary Consulate of the Slovak Republic in Osaka was opened on the same day.
