Environmental Initiatives

Led by the Environmental Management Committee at the head office, SIIX group has appointed Eco-Leaders in charge of environmental issues and Eco-Officers in charge of managing environmental policies at each of its bases around the world, and the entire Group is working together to promote activities to resolve environmental issues.
As various environmental issues, such as climate change and resource depletion, become more serious, SIIX group will fulfill its corporate responsibility and actively contribute to the protection of the global environment by conducting its business activities in an environmentally friendly manner. The following are the activities that SIIX group is currently engaged in.

Efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions

Efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions

Our group has 15 sales and distribution centers and 12 manufacturing facilities in 14 countries around the world. We will firstly reduce indirect CO2 emissions from our business activities.
In fiscal 2020, our total CO2 emissions were 61,549 tons, and CO2 emissions per unit of sales (per million yen in sales) were 0.34 tons.
As measures to reduce CO2 emissions, we have decided to install solar panels on the roofs of our factories to partially cover the electricity consumption and will continue with our CO2 reduction activities. In addition, we will proactively use energy-saving products in our production facilities, and we will aim to reduce CO2 emissions per unit of production compared to the previous year by 2023.

Installation of solar panels

In order to promote greenhouse gas reduction activities, we will install solar panels at our manufacturing sites to cover a portion of the electricity used in our business activities. In fiscal 2020, we installed solar panels at our manufacturing sites in Shanghai, China. In terms of CO2 emissions, this will result in a reduction of approximately 1,817.5 tons per year.
In the future, we will prepare for the installation of these facilities in stages, including at our manufacturing base in Indonesia and Mexico, to actively utilize the power generated by the Group.

In April 2021, we supported COOL CHOICE, a campaign by the Japanese government to encourage people to make various “smart choices” to prevent global warming.

Replacing the air conditioning system with a more power-efficient one

Replacing the air conditioning system with a more power-efficient one

When the air conditioners in the warehouses and offices were replaced at the Singapore site, more efficient air conditioning equipment was installed to improve the work environment. Compared to the previous old air conditioners, the power consumption efficiency has improved, leading to a reduction in electricity consumption.

Replacement of fluorescent lights with LED lights

Replacement of fluorescent lights with LED lights

At our site in Jakarta, Indonesia, we are gradually switching from fluorescent lights to LED lights that consume less electricity. Other sites in Southeast Asia are also working on energy-saving activities.
